7 Reasons Why You Should Visit Badger Park Campground in Peshtigo, Wisconsin

If you’re looking for a place to leave your worries behind and relax, Badger Park campground is the perfect spot. Located just a short drive from Green Bay in Peshtigo, Wisconsin, this small city park offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation. Whether you’re interested in camping, fishing, hiking, or just taking a relaxing stroll through the woods, this park has something for everyone.

Here are seven reasons why you should consider Badger Park for your next camping adventure!

Badger Park Campground

Badger Park is a great place to camp.

There are 35 campsites with water, electricity, picnic tables and fire rings.

If you’re looking for something a little more rustic, there are 4 tent sites and 2 small cabins.

No matter what kind of camping experience you’re looking for, Badger Park has something to offer.

And after camping here with our family, I have 7 reasons you might want to visit this cute little campground too!

1. Close to amenities

This small park complex is close to town and is very convenient if you need to get groceries, gas, or feel like checking out the local restaurants and activities.

Many necessities and fun places to visit are actually within walking distance.

Looking for a few fun things to do in the area?

Here’s some you don’t want to miss:

  • Peshtigo Fire Museum
  • Peshtigo library (limited availability so check before going)
  • Center Bowl (the bowling alley)
  • Thrifty Treasures (a thrift store where you never know what you’ll find!)

While not within walking distance, if you drive just out of town you can also visit the Forgotten Fire Winery.

(If you go, be sure to their red wine named “Hot Mess”, it’s made from Door County cherries and tastes great!)

2. Swimming & water sports

The Peshtigo River is directly next to the campground and offers a sand beach area and boat launch. It is also a great river to kayak, canoe, and fish!

Right near the beach is also a fenced skate park if you or someone in your party brings their board and wants to try it out.

3. Huge playground and picnic area

The campground itself has a toddler play area but the park (which is only separated by a driveway) has a huge playground and picnic area. There is plenty of space to let your kids run and play.

And if you feel like playing too, you can start up a game at the horseshoe pits near the playground.

The new playground was under construction during our last visit, so I’m sure it’s finished now!

4. Wooded areas

Surrounding Badger Park campground and the park are wooded areas where you can hike, play a game of disc golf, look for wildlife, and just enjoy nature!

5. Camp host on site

One of the things I love about camping here is that there is always a campground host on site. If you need anything or have any questions, they are more than happy to help out!

They also make sure to keep the campground, rustic cabins, and bathrooms very clean and tidy.

6. Clean bathrooms and showers

The shower house is located near the park entrance and has free hot showers. We found the campground bathrooms to be clean and well-stocked.

There are also flush toilets available which is always a nice perk when camping!

And for those who need it, there is a dump station on site as well.

7. Entertainment at the band shell and pavilions

Throughout the year, there are a variety of events held at Badger Park. There is a band shell where you can enjoy free concerts on select nights during the summer months.

There have been weekly Wednesday night music events but you should check to make sure that is still happening before you plan to visit if that is something of interest.

There are also two pavilions that can be rented for family gatherings or get-togethers with friends.

Badger Park Campground FAQs

I’m definitely not a Peshtigo expert but we did live there at one time and still love to stay at the park campground when we get a chance so I’ll try to answer some of the questions I’m most often asked, and point you in the direction of more info if you need it 🙂

1. Where can I find more information about the campground?

If you’re looking for more info you could check out the campground’s Facebook page or the Parks and Rec website and Facebook page.

Looking to make reservations?

You can book your site online or call 715-582-4321.

2. Where can I find more info about local events?

A great place to look for info on local events would be the City Of Peshtigo website or Facebook page. There is info about attractions as well as the Parks And Recreation program guide that lists many of the local happenings.

Another option might be the Chamber of Commerce.

3. When is the best time to reserve a site?

It’s best to book as early as possible because, as with any campground, holiday weekends like Memorial Day, Labor Day, and even Peshtigo Historical Day weekend can be quite busy.

4. Does the campground have sporting equipment available?

We didn’t personally borrow or rent any equipment so I can’t give a definite answer.

The park campground brochure mentions that there are rental discs for frisbee golf and some bikes available to be loaned out, but you would want to check on that before you go.

5. Are there any available discounts?

As far as I know, (and according to the website) if you are a Passport America member or active/military veteran you may be able to get a discounted rate for your site.

Be sure to call before making reservation payments though because it looks like there are some restrictions.
